External Boat Builder
Overview
We are currently seeking experienced External Boat Builders to join a leading marine engineering environment, working on high-quality vessels built for global use. This role would suit individuals with a strong eye for detail, who take pride in delivering precision work and enjoy being part of a multi-skilled team.
You will play a key role in ensuring vessels are completed to schedule, taking responsibility for the installation and assembly of various external components to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings
- Assembly of steering systems
- Keel fittings
- Installation of skin fittings
- Deck gear and teak deck installation
- Installation of windows, portlights and hatches
- Drive chain propulsion system assembly
- Shaft fitting
- Lazarette fit-out
- Fitting of various fibreglass components
- Levelling boats
- Carrying out basic laminating tasks
Requirements
- Relevant City & Guilds (C&G) qualification or equivalent
- Ideally a minimum of 2 years’ experience within the marine industry
- Experience working with timber and/or GRP vessels
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Ability to work to deadlines and as part of a team
