Manufacturing Systems Manager – Operations / Production Excellence
Location: Clerkenwell (with weekly factory visits)

This role is not responsible for running day-to-day production output.
We are looking for someone who can design and implement the systems, processes and operating structure behind manufacturing.
You must have experience in:
- Improving how manufacturing operates (not just managing it)
- Designing workflows, SOPs and production systems
- Working in product-based manufacturing environments
Candidates from pure production supervision, planning or coordination roles are unlikely to be suitable.
The Opportunity
Broadreach Recruitment is supporting a growing design-led manufacturing business in the appointment of a Manufacturing Systems Manager.
This role is focused on building the operating system for production — ensuring the factory runs with structure, consistency and scalability.
You’ll work closely with production leadership but focus on how work gets done, not just output.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and implementing production systems and workflows
- Creating the operating rhythm for manufacturing (planning, reporting, cadence)
- Developing SOPs and structured processes
- Driving lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Identifying and removing bottlenecks and inefficiencies
- Improving throughput, quality and repeatability
- Supporting production teams with structure, tools and clarity
- Working cross-functionally with operations, procurement and supply chain
Shop Floor Involvement
- Weekly presence in the factory
- Observing processes and identifying improvements
- Working directly with teams to implement change
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Experience in manufacturing / operations improvement / CI roles
- Background in building or interiors product-based manufacturing
- Strong understanding of lean, process design and production systems
- Experience building SOPs and structured workflows
