Job Description

Overview

The post holder is responsible for operating and maintaining CNC machinery to produce high-quality parts and components, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications. The role covers diverse work in support of manufacturing a wide variety of cabinetry and joinery items and covers a wide range of materials including solid timber, MDF, laminate, melamine boards and solid surface manufactured materials.

Responsibilities

Machine set-up

  • Prepare and set-up the CNC machine based on job requirements, ensuring proper calibration and alignment

Programming

  • Write and modify CNC programs to control machining processes, optimising efficiency an accuracy

Execution

  • Prepare and load materials and parts onto the machine
  • Prepare a test run to check if the machine produce outputs according to specifications
  • Supervise the machine while it executes the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly

Maintenance

  • Perform regular maintenance of the CNC machine to ensure optimal functionality and longevity
  • Check and maintain machinery and tooling daily

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of machine settings, adjustments and production metrics

Safety compliance

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to create a safe working environment

Competencies

  • Proven experience as CNC operator
  • Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings in paper and digital formats
  • Understanding specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
  • Computer savvy with understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM
  • Mechanical aptitude and good math skills
  • A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach
