Tug Engineer
My client is continuing to grow its operations and is looking to recruit an experienced Tug Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a sea-going engineer who is looking to move into a land-based, harbour-focused role, while still remaining hands-on with marine operations. The role is primarily harbour based, with occasional work away from port supporting coastal towage and associated operations.
The Role
The Tug Engineer you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of our tug fleet.
Key responsibilities include:

Providing 24/7 engineering cover within a 40-hour working week to meet customer towage requirements

Ensuring the safe, efficient and environmentally responsible operation of all mechanical and engineering systems on board

Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance of machinery and equipment

Making sound engineering decisions while working safely under pressure and in challenging marine environments

Maintaining high standards of safety for all crew and operations

Ordering machinery spares and engine room consumables as required

Working closely with other crew members and shore-based teams, adhering to all operational and safety procedures
Working Pattern

Permanent, land-based role (non-rotational)

Standard 40-hour week

Flexible working option available — hours can be completed earlier in the week, allowing additional days off, subject to management approval

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:

MCA Chief Engineer 3000kW (III/3)

All required STCW short courses (including recent amendments)

Valid ENG1 medical

Strong decision-making ability and attention to detail

The ability to remain calm and effective under pressure

Good communication skills and fluency in English

Comfortable working as part of a close-knit operational team

Competence in Microsoft Office applications
Salary & Benefits

Salary: £40,000 – £42,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Minimum 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
