Fit Out Engineer / Mechanical Engineer – Precision Manufacturing

Shift: Day shift, 38 hours

Location: Plymouth, Devon
Salary / Rate: £17+hr plus OT and Benefits
Type: Contract & Permanent Opportunities

The Role

We are recruiting Engineers to support the installation, build, assembly, and integration of complex mechanical and marine systems within a high-quality manufacturing environment.

These roles suit engineers with broad, all-round mechanical experience, particularly those who have worked on installation and build projects, as well as within marine or similar complex environments. This is ideal for individuals who take pride in precision, quality of finish, and working on fully integrated systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical installation, build, and integration of complex systems
  • Working with power transmission, gearing, and driveline components
  • Installation of hydraulic, fluid, and onboard systems
  • Precision fitting in line with engineering drawings and specifications
  • Supporting full build, installation, and fit-out phases rather than maintenance activities
  • Working to defined quality, safety, and production standards
  • Maintaining clean, organised, and professional work areas

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years’ hands-on engineering experience
  • Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience across both mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines
  • Strong practical engineering and fault-finding skills
  • Ability to work from technical drawings and schematics
  • Experience within marine, defence, aerospace, automotive, rail, or complex manufacturing environments
  • Strong attention to detail and quality of finish
  • Positive attitude and team-focused approach
